Overview:

To develop, maintain and enhance mechanisms to track, report, and provide feedback related to company quality performance. To support the data analysis needs of Finance at the Health Plan.

Responsibilities:

1. Produces, analyzes, standardizes, enhances and maintains standard and ad hoc reports used to measure, monitor and manage quality of care and service as well as other financial analysis.

2. Utilizes knowledge of databases, information systems, statistical tools and analytical principles to analyze outcomes that support strategies for managing health plan performance.

3. Consult with business owners to determine requirements for data pulls and analysis.

4. Compiles and analyzes data including quality indicators, performance scorecard, quality improvement activities, financial metrics, and healthcare initiatives.

5. Performs statistical tests to determine statistical significance, confidence level, validity and reliability of outcome.

6. Supports systems to provide trended data and outcomes measures.

7. Assists in the development of databases and analysis tools to measure clinical outcomes and prevention initiatives.

8. Develops, standardizes, maintains and enhances reports for State clinical and quality reporting.

9. Participates in monthly Financial, Accrual, and MEI meetings.

10. Participates in clinical focus study development, data collecting and analysis.

11. Trends quarterly data and develops aggregate and individual data reports.

10. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education

Required:

- Bachelors degree in business, science, healthcare or related field

Years and Type of Experience Required::

Required:

- Minimum 3 years data analysis or statistical experience

Preferred:

- Previous HMO/Managed Care industry experience preferred

Specific Technical Skills

Required:

- Proficient with window based environment, particularly Microsoft Excel and Access. Working knowledge of information systems including database design.

Preferred:

- Knowledge of SPSS preferred. Understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding system and claims helpful.

Other:

Required:

- Excellent analytical skills

- Attention to detail.

- Knowledge of computer systems, word processing, spreadsheet, statistical packages and other data base management software.

- Excellent organizational skills; the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with a high quality result.

- Appreciation of cultural diversity towards target population.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Must be able to operate a computer.

- Must be able to operate a telephone.

- Must be able to operate a calculator
